 About Chip

From a young age, Chip fostered a love of architecture with fanciful drawings of impossible houses. He designed his first residential project - a small bungalow for a neighbor stricken with polio as a child - in the third grade, completing drawings and a small basswood model with the help of his dad. Soon he was hired by friends and family for small built projects in Tampa, Florida before graduating high school. He pursued his passion with a degree in architecture from Roger Williams University and studied the history of art and classical architecture during his junior year at the Instituto di Palazzo Rucellai,  housed in  Leon Battista Alberti's 15th century masterpiece in Florence, Italy. After a stint with a small corporate firm in Tampa, he later completed a Master of Architecture at SCAD - the Savannah College of Art and Design, finished in concert with a large estate project on the Georgia - Alabama line. Chip later moved to Louisville, Kentucky where he joined a boutique firm specializing in New Old houses and classical architecture, working on projects across the Bluegrass region.

Today, Chip remains a Louisville based lover of old homes, and a passionate practitioner of the #NewOldHouse, designing traditional homes and thoughtful renovations for discerning clients. But that is only part of the story. He is a husband and father of two plus a willful spaniel; an Anglophile and an avid observer of the South; a car guy; a curator and compulsive collector; a proud @scadarch alum. A career in design is never just a job, and is profoundly influenced by the myriad things that influence us.

I hope to add this richness to your next project in a way that reflects the beauty of your story.
